X-Plus Toys' Gigantic-Sized Mega Man Now in Color

Less than a week ago, we got to see the prototype sculpt for Japanese manufacturer X-Plus Toys' new Gigantic Mega Man (nee Rockman) figure. In a surprisingly quick turnaround, Rockman Unity has posted images of the figure in full color... and a little something extra, too.

Rockman Unity Moves

ucchy Just a heads up. Enthusiast of all things Rockman Ucchy-san and his blog Rockman Unity are moving to a new address at Livedoor. This is because Capcom of Japan plans to close down its Capcom Online Games blogging service come the 27th of this month. COG bloggers have the ability to sign up to Livedoor and import their blogs. At any rate, we look forward to more zany updates from Ucchy-san!

The Much Await Results of the Next D-Arts Character Survey are Here...

winners Do you think your favorite character made it? Can you stand the anticipation? What? You say the top image sorta gives away the results already? Oh, well, moving right along...

First off, the response to the second survey was huge. The planned reveal was actually last week, but thanks to a hefty participation - nearly three times that of the first survey - the tabulating took a while! A total of 17,603 entries were received. Needless to say, Ucchy-san and co. were floored. As for the results...

In first place is Zero from the Mega Man Zero series with a whopping 4,985 votes. I find this a touch surprising, since MMZ seemed to spell the end for the Kotobukiya line of a few years ago. But people do like that Zero guy.

In second place is Legends' MegaMan Volnutt with 3,083 votes. I know how desired he is so let's hope this result sticks!

And in third place is Roll (MM8 version) with 2,997 votes.

Additionally, beloved underdog Iris managed to snag a close 4th place with 2,907 votes, and Ciel made it in 5th with 2,659 votes. Seems the females are starting to get their showing. Things were fairly close though, as everyone in the top ten got over 2,000 votes. We'll continue on with the top 24 after the break, but Rockman Unity has the entirety of the results spelled out (albeit in Japanese). Even Heat Man got a respectable seven votes! But at any rate, we'll have to see how these statistics figure into Bandai's future products!

Thanks for the tip, Fanciful Dancing Star!

06th - X Second Armor (2,471 votes) 07th - MegaMan.EXE (2,431 votes) 08th - Copy X - (2,353 votes) 09th - Axl (2,129 votes) 10th - Black Zero (2,128 votes) 11th - Mega Man (Ariga ver.) (1,994 votes) 12th - Proto Man (1,777 votes) 13th - Servbot (1,519 votes) 14th - Vile's Ride Armor (1,499 votes) 15th - Model X (1,292 votes) 16th - Metal Man (1,255 votes) 17th - Shooting Star MegaMan (1,016 votes) 18th - ProtoMan.EXE (892 votes) 19th - OVER-1 (760 votes) 20th - Mayl Sakurai (740 votes) 21st - Lan Hikari (604 votes) 22nd - Rush Jet (307 votes) 23rd - Eddie (300 votes) 24th - Beat (248 votes)

Capcom and Bandai Reopen Character Survey to Fans

charsAs hinted at by Ucchy-san when he referred to "that plan," Capcom has started a new character survey for fans to provide input on who they want to see made into Bandai figures next. This time, the survey includes the likes of poor, dejected Iris, Hitoshi Ariga style Mega Man, MM8 style Roll, MegaMan Volnutt and characters from other series. They were even ballsy enough to add on OVER-1. Black Zero and Vile's Ride Armor are also present, which is curious since prototypes have already been shown. Of the choices you can select up to three. You can also opt in for one write-in vote as well. Besides your favorite characters, you must also indicate your age range, and choose your favorite Mega Man series (which reads Mega Man, X, Legends, Battle Network, Zero, ZX, Star Force, and Xover). This survey will run until May 16th. While it is probably intended for Japanese audiences, it won't hurt to throw in your own two cents. Of course, Bluefin Tamashii Nations may be preparing their own survey as well.

Thanks for the tip, Oakie620!

Perhaps D-Arts Iris Still Has a Chance?

sadiris While plenty were excited about the news of Ultimate Armor X becoming the next D-Arts figure, and Sigma being confirmed as a Figurarts ZERO statue, the whole April Fools joke setup still rubbed some people the wrong way. After all, there were backers to the figures that turned out to be fake. Even Capcom's own Ryuji Higurashi was disappointed, and drew this crestfallen Iris in response.

After a profuse apology, Ucchy-san blogs that, for everyone's sake (even Iris's), things aren't over yet. He is now preparing to reignite "that plan," with everyone's support. While leaving his meaning a little enigmatic for now, I assume he means "that plan" is another character survey for Bandai so that fans can vote on which products they want to see next. The one from 2011 brought about figures like Full Armor X ,Vile and Bass.

Rockman Unity Gets a Cold Boot

rockunitylogo Official Rockman fan site Rockman Unity, where spokesperson Ucchy posts various content and announcements, is getting a fresh start, but not in a good way. Last week the site ran into technical issues, causing posts to be un-openable, and eventually disappearing altogether. While the issues seem to have been cleared up, unfortunately Rockman Unity is now a clean slate, and the articles may be impossible to reclaim.

Chances are this doesn't affect you very much, since the site was aimed at Japanese readers and, well, entirely in Japanese. But whatever the case, it's no fun losing years of content, including a lot of interesting interviews and other trivia. Fortunately we've still covered some here, like the amazing Mega Man Olympics and interviews with TOM PON. Ucchy proclaims nonetheless that the show will go on. Good luck, Ucchy!

Thanks for the tip, Amunshen!

A Sneak Peek at the New Contents in R20+5

To those interested in the expanded version of the classic R20: Rockman & Rockman X Official Complete Works, here's a little taste of what to expect. Rockman Unity has posted some sample images of new bonus artwork by various contributors, as well as a little content coming from Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10. Of course, with nearly 100 additional pages, this is hardly all that's new to the book. But for now, take a look and enjoy!

Rockman Unity Wants Your 25th Anniversary Comments and Congrats

Good ol' Ucchy-san at Rockman Unity is getting a little celebratory plan in the works. He is asking all fans (well, technically all fans in Japan) to send in their comments aboutMega Man's 25th anniversary. The comments can pertain to things such as:

  • Congratulatory 25th anniversary comments
  • Your favorite Mega Man series
  • What is Mega Man to you?

You can send in your words by commenting on the Rockman Unity post, or via Twitter using the hash tag #ROCKMAN25. As for how the comments will be used, on December 17th, the very day of the anniversary, Rockman Unity will run a live stream from 7:30 to 8:30 PM Japan time (2:30 AM US Pacific time, 5:30 AM Eastern - a bit early, eh). If you're up, you'll be able to watch the show here.

I can't guarantee how many or if any comments from non-Japanese fans will be used, but if you have something to say, you've nothing to lose to make your voice heard. Apparently there is no real plan for the broadcast itself, but hopefully it will still be entertaining!

Kenny Omega is a Rockman

Rockman Unity has updated with a post featuring the Canadian wrestling superstar of the Japanese DDT federation, Kenny Omega. It's in Japanese, of course, and from what we can tell (until Heat Man can look over it), it seems that Omega came to the ring tonight with "Dr.WILY STAGE 1 - OMEGAMAN MIX -" from the new We Are Rock-Men! album as his entrance music.

It sounds like the fans were really into it, as "the figure of a million spectators to the clapping to the tune this." With that kind of pumping tune behind him, it sounds like he was able to secure the title of "King of DDT Osaka 2012." Most of the post is pictures and talking about the event, but ends with a note that We are ROCK-MEN! 2 will be available on December 19th, 2012, and will include Omega's specially arranged theme.

Ucchy Asks 11: TOM-PON no Saigo!?

For many months, Capcom's Ucchy-san has been posting video segments of an interview with Naoya Tomita, AKA TOM-PON, a legendary Capcom staffer who was working on Mega Man back at the beginning. However, today things finally wrap up with Capcom Unity's posting of translations of the final segments.

In the new videos (the latest one above), you can learn about things like TOM-PON's stint in voice acting, the origin of enemy names, and developers' love for American action movies. You can also browse down the list on CU to see all the previous videos in the series. Don't forget to click the CC button to see the subtitles!

Many thanks to TOM-PON and Ucchy-san for all the info and laughs!
